
On May 5th, 2025, the Association of Sabo Sagamu Youth Leaders (ASSYL) ushered in a new era as they inaugurated their new executives during a vibrant ceremony held at the playground beside UBA Bank along Akarigbo Road, in Sabo Sagamu, Ogun State. This significant event not only marked the transition of leadership but also featured an insightful annual Ramadan lecture addressing critical issues affecting the youth.

The inauguration ceremony celebrated Comrade Oluwafemi Osho as the newly elected President of ASSYL, following a successful tenure by Comrade Olusola Bashir Aina, who led the past executive. The passing of the association’s documents to the new leadership symbolized a commitment to continued progress and unity among the youth.

The day’s proceedings included a pivotal lecture titled “Effects of Drug Abuse in Youth and Islam,” delivered by the esteemed Sheik Sulaimon Zachariyahu. The lecture highlighted the serious implications of drug abuse on the younger generation and examined these issues from an Islamic perspective, emphasizing the importance of upholding moral values and seeking help within the community.

An illustrious gathering of dignitaries and youth leaders attended the event, including Alhaji Shamsudeen Adebayo Apelogun (All Rounder), the Asiwaju Adeen of Ogun State and Baba Adeen of Remo Land, who is also the National President of ACOMORAN; Comrade Bidemi Solarin, the Chairman of the Remo Youth Association (RYA); and Comrade Olabisi Jolaoso (A1), a recognized leader in youth affairs in Sagamu. Present were also Comrade Ismail Adekunle, Deputy Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Sagamu Branch, and Islamic cleric Alh. Olayinka Melu, among numerous others.

The event overflowed with energy and excitement, with the attendance of all chairmen from each ASSYL-affiliated youth association and enthusiastic youths from across the community, celebrating the promising future ahead under the new leadership.
ASSYL serves as the umbrella body for all youth associations and organizations in Sabo Sagamu, aiming to foster collaboration, empowerment, and development among the youth.

As the new executives take their positions, there is a shared optimism for continued growth, unity, and proactive engagement in addressing the challenges faced by the youth of Sabo Sagamu.
