40 Million Women Target: APC Women Mobilisation Expands Grassroots Outreach Across States Ahead Of 2027
The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has commenced a nationwide grassroots mobilisation programme aimed at strengthening its engagement with women ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The directorate, led by Dr. Betta Edu under the leadership of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, said its mobilisation strategy is designed to reach communities and polling-unit areas across Nigeria, with 176,846 polling units identified as the scope of its nationwide activation programme. Recent reports have documented mobilisation activities in several states, including Jigawa, Kano, Kwara, Rivers, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Zamfara, Imo, Cross River, Benue and Plateau.
The initiative is also being promoted around a target of 40 million women supporters for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, according to reports on the activities of the women mobilisation structure.
According to the directorate, women’s groups have been holding ward meetings, community engagements and sensitisation activities aimed at strengthening grassroots networks and encouraging greater participation in the electoral process.

The mobilisation has reportedly extended to communities in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kwara, Abia, Rivers and other parts of the country, with organisers seeking to establish a coordinated structure capable of maintaining regular contact with households and communities.
In Kwara State, for instance, thousands of women recently gathered in Offa, Kwara South Senatorial District, as part of the wider activation programme. The exercise was coordinated by Hon. Taiye Mutiat Omotosho, an honorary assistant to Dr. Edu, who said the mobilisation would subsequently extend to communities, wards and polling units.
The directorate said the grassroots engagements are not limited to campaign rallies or election-day mobilisation. It said the women are also being encouraged to understand government programmes, identify available opportunities, determine eligibility for relevant interventions and engage the appropriate institutions.
Among the programmes and initiatives being discussed during the engagements are the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), enterprise development, agriculture, transportation, energy and other government interventions that the mobilisation team says are relevant to households, businesses and livelihoods.
The women mobilisation structure has particularly highlighted the Renewed Hope Initiative and other women-focused programmes associated with the First Lady, while NELFUND has also been cited in grassroots discussions concerning support for students and families dealing with tertiary education costs.
The directorate said its approach is intended to provide practical information to women at the community level, enabling them to better understand programmes and reforms of the Tinubu administration and how such initiatives may affect their families, businesses and communities.
The planned expansion of the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme has also been identified among areas of interest, particularly because transportation costs affect women who depend on public transport to access markets, farms, workplaces, schools and other economic activities.
As preparations for the 2027 elections continue, the APC Women Mobilisation Directorate said its grassroots engagements would be sustained across the country, with continued emphasis on community-level contact, information sharing, women’s participation and the development of a coordinated mobilisation network.
The ongoing exercise forms part of broader efforts by the APC and its support structures to strengthen their grassroots organisation ahead of the 2027 elections. Reports indicate that the mobilisation is being extended across Nigeria, with the directorate seeking to maintain engagement with women at ward, community and household levels.
