Tensions In Ogun ADC As Members Petition National Leadership Over Alleged Chairman’s Misconduct

A group of concerned leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has formally petitioned the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), calling for a comprehensive investigation into allegations of financial misconduct, abuse of office, and unethical conduct against the State Acting Chairman, Otunba Femi Patrick Soluade.

The petition, dated June 20, 2026, was addressed to the National Chairman of the party and signed by prominent party stakeholders, including Hudu Idris, Ismaila Adejumon, Temitope Adebayo, and Rashidat Yekin.

According to the petitioners, their action was motivated by a commitment to the core values of accountability, transparency, justice, discipline, and constitutional order within the party. They expressed concern that the issues raised, if left unresolved, could threaten the unity, credibility, and electoral fortunes of the ADC in Ogun State.

The petition referenced Soluade’s appointment as Acting Chairman in December 2024 following the voluntary resignation of the former Acting Chairman, Itunu Abioro.

Among the allegations presented to the national leadership are claims of financial mismanagement involving funds belonging to the Ogun State chapter of the party, unauthorized alterations to the party’s bank account signatory structure, and the alleged diversion of official party transactions.

The petitioners further alleged that several aspirants seeking elective positions on the ADC platform were directed to make payments into a personal bank account rather than the official account designated by the party’s National Secretariat. They claimed that more than ten aspirants may have complied with the directive.

In addition, concerns were raised over allegations of intimidation, abuse of office, and inappropriate conduct towards some party members, including a female aspirant. The stakeholders called on the national leadership to establish an independent and impartial investigative panel to examine the allegations and receive testimonies from affected individuals.

They also requested a forensic audit of all financial inflows and expenditures associated with the Ogun State ADC account domiciled with Sterling Bank since Soluade assumed office, as well as a review of all account mandate documents, signatory changes, and related banking records.

According to the petitioners, the alleged actions have generated internal divisions within the party and weakened the confidence of members in the state leadership.

The group urged the National Chairman and the National Working Committee to take swift action by constituting an independent investigative committee to thoroughly examine all allegations and ensure that transparency, accountability, and due process prevail within the party.

Soluade Denies Allegations

Responding to the allegations, Ogun State ADC Acting Chairman, Otunba Femi Patrick Soluade, dismissed the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.

Soluade denied reports of any assault involving his deputy, explaining that what occurred was merely a misunderstanding that had since been amicably resolved.

He maintained that he had personally contributed significantly to the funding of the party in Ogun State, alongside a few associates and supporters, stressing that all financial transactions and expenditures were properly documented.

According to him, records of the party’s financial activities are available and can be presented to the national leadership whenever required.

The ADC chairman expressed confidence that any investigation conducted by the party would ultimately vindicate him, emphasizing that he remains committed to protecting his reputation and integrity.

As of the time of filing this report, the National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress had not issued an official response to the petition.
