Notorious Nigerian Artist, Portable, Welcomes New Child While Detained In Custody

The Nigerian musician, known for stirring up controversy, has received the news of his newborn child’s arrival while still in custody over criminal charges. Portable’s first wife, Omobewaji, gave birth just five days after he was ordered to be remanded in prison. The singer appeared before the Federal High Court on January 12, 2026, facing nine criminal charges. However, the presiding judge refused to grant him bail as the police officer who was allegedly assaulted by Portable was not present to testify.
The court remanded the singer in prison custody until January 19, 2026, when his bail application will be heard. Sources close to Portable reveal that he was ecstatic upon hearing the news of his child’s birth and is eager to be released so he can meet his newborn. His current legal troubles stem from a previous incident involving his wife, Ashabi Simple, where he allegedly assaulted a police officer.
Portable’s controversial actions have landed him in hot water once again, and he awaits the court’s decision on his bail application.
