‎The Chairman

‎Remo Youth Association (RYA) 2026 Electoral Committee

‎Remo Land, Ogun State.

‎Dear Chairman,

‎OFFICIAL APPEAL AGAINST THE DISQUALIFICATION OF COMRADE SALIU OLAMIDE DANIEL OWOSENI (GENESIS) AND REQUEST FOR REVIEW

‎I write with utmost respect to formally express my displeasure and to lodge an appeal regarding the disqualification of Comrade Saliu Olamide Daniel Owoseni, popularly known as Genesis, a candidate for the position of General Secretary representing Ijoku Community, Sagamu, during the Remo Youth Association (RYA) 2026 elections held on April 12th, 2026 at Ilara Remo, area of Remo North Local Government, Ogun State.

‎The basis for the disqualification, an allegation of signature forgery on his nomination form is entirely false, misleading, and without merit. For clarity, the said signature in question was legitimately appended on my behalf by my Vice, Sokoya Musbaudeen, due to my unavoidable absence at the time of submission for the nomination form. This action was taken in good faith to meet the stipulated deadline and does not in any way constitute forgery or misconduct. We therefore urge that this allegation be disregarded in its entirety.

‎The disqualification, as announced by Comrade Gbenga Odumosu on the grounds of alleged signature forgery on the nomination form, is not only unfounded but also a misrepresentation of facts. The allegation is entirely baseless and appears to have been orchestrated by individuals who are neither active members of our association nor aligned with the collective interests of the Association of Sabo Sagamu Youth Leaders (ASSYL), an umbrella youth body which we are fully affiliated to and that unites our various youth bodies in Sabo Sagamu. It is therefore disturbing that such an allegation, clearly lacking substance, was entertained and acted upon without proper verification or recourse to due process.

‎More concerning, however, is the manner in which the disqualification was carried out. The decision was announced during the voting process by Comrade Gbenga Odumosu; an individual who is neither a member of the Electoral Committee nor officially recognized as an observer in the election. This action represents a serious breach of electoral procedure and raises fundamental questions about the legitimacy and transparency of the process.

‎It is also on record that Comrade Genesis was duly screened and cleared by the Electoral Committee under your leadership prior to the election and was officially declared eligible to contest. It is therefore inconsistent and procedurally unacceptable for such a candidate who successfully passed the screening process to be disqualified mid-election by an unauthorized individual.

‎It is also important to note that Comrade Genesis is a bonafide son of the soil from Ijoku Land, and a reputable and dedicated youth leader from the Ogededudu/Sofowora axis of Ijoku Community. He has consistently demonstrated commitment to community development and has no record of misconduct, violence, fraud, forgery or unethical behavior. His contributions to Ijoku and other neighboring communities stand as a testament to his integrity and leadership. His reputation and integrity should not be tarnished by baseless allegations.

‎Furthermore, the process leading to his disqualification raises serious concerns. I was summoned into the election room during the voting process and asked to sign a document without being given the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding the signature in question. Shortly thereafter, I was asked to leave, and the disqualification was announced without granting either myself or the candidate a fair hearing. This action clearly violates the principles of natural justice and fair electoral conduct.

‎Despite these irregularities, we chose to maintain peace and order to avoid disrupting the electoral process. However, we believe it is both necessary and timely to formally bring these concerns to your attention.

‎In light of the foregoing, we respectfully appeal to your esteemed office to:

‎- Conduct a comprehensive review, thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disqualification;

‎- Clarification on the role and authority of Comrade Gbenga Odumosu in the electoral process;

‎- Immediate redress of the procedural irregularities observed; and

‎- A just and fair resolution in the interest of justice, fairness, and credibility, to recognize and declare Comrade Genesis as the rightful winner of the General Secretary position, in line with the will of the electorate.

‎We trust that your office will act promptly and get back to us in 48 hours, to correct this anomaly and uphold the integrity of the Remo Youth Association. We trust in your commitment to uphold justice, transparency, and the integrity of the Association.

‎Kindly accept the assurances of our highest regards.

‎Thank you for your attention and anticipated cooperation.

‎Yours faithfully,

‎Comrade Apelogun Lukman
