APC Ward 5, Iperu Remo Adopts Hon. Monsuru Osho As Consensus Candidate For Ikenne Local Government By-Election
Leaders, executives, stakeholders, and aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Iperu Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, have unanimously adopted Hon. Monsuru Osho, popularly known as Oshopey, as the party’s consensus candidate for the forthcoming councillorship by-election scheduled for June 6, 2026.
According to Neighbourhoodmic Media Correspondent, Mr. Adeyemi, the decision was reached during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting convened to deliberate on the future of the ward and chart a united path toward the by-election. The meeting commenced with a formal call to order and opening prayers, after which party leaders engaged in extensive discussions on the importance of preserving the peace, unity, and cohesion that have long characterized APC Ward 5.
Presiding over the gathering, Leader Oyekoya Bama commended members for the successful conduct of the ward congress and encouraged party faithful to remain steadfast in promoting harmony and collective progress. He reiterated the party’s commitment to sustaining effective grassroots governance and disclosed that wide-ranging consultations had been undertaken concerning the forthcoming by-election.
During deliberations, the names of interested aspirants, including Comrade Muyiwa Osularu, Hon. Monsuru Osho, and Hassan Mukaila, were presented before the stakeholders. Leaders emphasized the need for fairness, transparency, and collective responsibility in selecting a candidate capable of providing effective representation and advancing the interests of Ward 5.
Following exhaustive consultations and deliberations, stakeholders unanimously resolved to adopt Hon. Monsuru Osho as the consensus candidate of the party. The leaders noted that Hon. Osho’s loyalty, consistency, and dedication to the APC over the years distinguished him among his peers. Particular reference was made to his selfless decision to step down during a previous political contest involving the late Hon. Nurudeen Bakare in the overall interest of party unity and progress.
The meeting further noted that Comrade Muyiwa Osularu remains the Special Adviser on Youth Affairs to the Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Jamiu Mohammed Asimi, a position stakeholders affirmed is still valid and recognized by both the party and the local government administration. Hassan Mukaila was also reported to have voluntarily stepped aside following consultations among party leaders and stakeholders.
While reaffirming their support for the consensus arrangement, stakeholders expressed concerns over reports of alleged external interference aimed at influencing the outcome of the ward’s decision. Discussions referenced reports involving the APC State Organising Secretary, Hon. Yemi Adelani Igwe, and political actor Mr. Temitope Akintunde (Armstrong), with participants insisting that decisions concerning APC Ward 5 and Ikenne Local Government should remain within the jurisdiction of duly constituted party leaders and members at the grassroots level.
Stakeholders maintained that APC Ward 5 remains united and committed to democratic consultation, emphasizing that neither its leadership, youths, nor members can be swayed from decisions collectively reached in the overall interest of the party. They further stressed that Ikenne Local Government has consistently demonstrated political maturity in managing its affairs and cautioned against any actions capable of creating unnecessary divisions among party members, particularly the youth constituency.
Consequently, party leaders and members appealed to prominent APC leaders across Ogun State, including Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON; Aremo Olusegun Osoba; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI); APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide; and members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), to support efforts geared towards sustaining peace, unity, stability, and internal democracy within APC Ward 5 and Ikenne Local Government.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by all attendees to work collectively for the success of Hon. Monsuru Osho and the APC in the forthcoming by-election, while upholding the principles of peace, discipline, loyalty, and respect for established party structures.
