‎Breaking News: May Agbamuche-Mbu Assumes Role As Acting INEC Chairman Following The Departure Of Mahmood Yakubu

‎A new chapter has commenced at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as National Commissioner May Agbamuche-Mbu has officially taken the helm as Acting Chairman following the departure of Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who is entering his terminal leave after completing his tenure.

‎This pivotal transition was confirmed on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) held at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja.

‎In a photograph shared by INEC, Professor Yakubu was seen formally handing over official documents to Agbamuche-Mbu, signaling her leadership as the Commission gears up for crucial electoral activities leading to the 2027 general elections.

‎Representing the South-South geopolitical zone, May Agbamuche-Mbu brings extensive legal and administrative expertise to her new role. Her assumption of office is anticipated to foster continuity in INEC’s operations and bolster preparations for credible electoral reforms.
