Empowering Tomorrow: NYCN Sagamu LG Begins Bakery’s Training Program For Young Women In Sagamu
In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing youth empowerment and fostering economic independence, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Sagamu Chapter, officially commenced a 2 weeks skills acquisition training for females only, in cake making, basic cake decorations, pastries, and bread making training program on Monday, October 20, 2025. This program, designed for over 200 young women aged 18 to 35, is being conducted in collaboration with the Bakery Initiatives Employment and Empowerment Program at the Ijokun Community Town Hall.
The event was spearheaded by the Sagamu Chapter Coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Adebayo, who addressed attendees during the opening ceremony. He emphasized the transformative potential of the training program, which seeks not only to equip participants with essential baking skills but also to encourage entrepreneurial growth and self-sufficiency.
In his address, Comrade Adebayo highlighted the myriad benefits the program will bestow upon its beneficiaries. “This training is not just about learning how to bake; it’s about cultivating a mindset of entrepreneurship, encouraging innovation, and fostering independence,” he stated. Adebayo emphasized the importance of cooperation among participants, urging them to engage actively with their coaches and to remain focused throughout the learning process.
The event attracted a diverse audience, including executive members of the Sagamu NYCN, such as Comrade Saliu Olamide Daniel, the Public Relations Officer 2; Comrade Aina Olusola Bashiru, the Social Secretary; Comrade Adesanya Ganiyu, the Auditor, as well as the former Coordinator, Comrade Azeez Azena, and key stakeholders in the association. Also present were several executives from the Association of Sabo Sagamu Youth Leaders (ASSYL) led by Comrade Femi Osho, underscoring the community’s support for this initiative.

The leadership from Bakery Initiatives emphasized their dedication to providing hands-on training, mentorship, and resources that will empower these young women to launch their own baking enterprises.
As the program unfolds over the coming weeks with 31st, October 2025 as the closing date, Adebayo reiterated the collective responsibility of the community to support the participants. “This is an opportunity for us to invest in our future,” he remarked. “Let us all work together to ensure that these young women emerge as successful entrepreneurs who will contribute to the local economy and inspire others.”
The NYCN Sagamu Chapter’s bakery training initiative marks a vital step towards empowering youth, reducing unemployment, and enhancing skills development within the community.
