Member of the Sagamu Local Government legislative council representing ward 7, Ijagba, Sagamu, Hon. Idris Oluwaseun Awoderu, has continues to inspire educational excellence through his unwavering commitment to grassroots initiatives by fulfilling his promises of distributing free secondary school uniforms and other educational materials to the outgoing primary six pupils of LG Primary School, Ijagba area of Sagamu, Ogun State.

Recall that the lawmaker made the promises of distributing free secondary school uniforms, and other educational materials to the outgoing pupils during the launching of the Free Summer Intensive Revision Coaching Program, organised by him and targeted at the outgoing pupils of the school, which commenced from July. 9th to 20th 2024, in the school premises.

The coaching classes, handled by competent teachers were equally recognised and motivated by Hon. Awoderu, the financier of the program, imparted knowledge to the pupils for the period, and equipped the pupils with the knowledge and confidence needed to improve in the next level academic session.

At the event held at the school hall today Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, to distribute the school items to the outgoing pupils as promised by Hon. Awoderu, witness scores of residents comprising teachers, parents, community development association, political leaders from the APC Ward 7, representatives from the Ijagba Youth Development Association, and beneficiaries of the program, as well as aides of the lawmaker, fully in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Awoderu, who was humbly represented by his father, Alhaji Awoderu, said the programs demonstrate his son’s, Idris, dedication to improving educational growth, reward academic excellence and alleviate the challenges faced by underprivileged students, as well as to support parents financially and lessen their struggle for provisions and pressure that buying new school items had impressed on them.

Regarding the school items distribution, Alhaji Awoderu highlighted its importance in boosting students’ confidence and comfort in their studies. He believes that students who come to school well-dressed and tidy are better positioned to succeed academically.

He noted that the development of local communities is a responsibility of every public office holders, stressing that Hon. Awoderu is willingly to do his best to lessen the suffering of the rural poor.

The President of Ijagba Youth Development Association, Comr. Oluwole, lauded the initiative and enjoined the students to put in their best practices and perform credibly in their next academics carrier and beyond.

“This approach to educational support by Hon. Awoderu, has come to set a commendable example for other community leaders and underscores the importance of investing in the future generation,” he added.

“To my best knowledge, this is the first of it’s kind in Ijagba, Sagamu and Remo Land at a whole, seeing an elected local government councilor engaging in such educational projects, and it also serves as a challenge to all the entire Ijagba Youth and the community at large”, Comr. Oluwole concluded while applauding Hon. Awoderu for putting the name of Ijagba in gold.

“Parents’ support too is very critical, as they must monitor the academic activities of their children whenever they return from school and see where they’re lacking and offer assistance, probably with a lesson teacher,” the chairman of the occasion popularly known as Baale said while appreciating the lawmaker for remembering the school in his plan, and for organizing this kind of program for the outgoing pupils of the school. He therefore charge the students to be focused, studious and not to allow distraction in their academics, especially as they enter secondary school for their next academic journey.

Seemingly elated at the gesture of Hon. Awoderu, Blessing, the school senior prefect girl, who spoke on behalf of all the outgoing pupils, thanked Hon. Awoderu for the opportunity of the coaching program and gifts of school items, saying they had a wonderful coaching, while noting that he has removed an impediment to their studies and will now be able to concentrate on achieving excellence in their next academic journey.

The school’s Head Teacher, thanked Hon. Awoderu for his kindness and humanitarian gesture, urging other leaders to emulate him, while stressing that the lawmaker generosity shows his desire to spread love, goodwill, growth for education and care to hapless individuals in the society.

The free school items by Hon. Awoderu were handed over to each of the outgoing pupils completely, with excitement and joy, while the uniform were also tested on them to be sure they were given perfect sizes.

Also in attendance at the event are mother of the legislator, Mrs. Awoderu, the NYCN acting coordinator, Comr. Ayoola Aduroja, APC Ward 7 leaders and executives, the media aide to Hon. Awoderu, Comr. Ola Genesis, Comr. Mustapha Luqman, the school teachers, parents of the outgoing pupils, amongst many others.
