Ogun State Government Calls For Excellence From Principals Of Flagship Schools

The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has called on principals of flagship secondary schools to exhibit hard work, confidence, and unwavering adherence to government policies in the education sector.
During a policy meeting held on Tuesday to establish cut-off marks for admissions into flagship schools for the 2025/2026 academic session, Arigbabu emphasized the importance of creating an optimal learning environment. He highlighted that adequate facilities have been provided and that class sizes will be capped at 60 students, enabling teachers to monitor and assess students more effectively.
The commissioner also made it clear that transfers would not be allowed for students into flagship schools, stating that the reputation of these institutions is heavily influenced by the dedication and competence of their principals. He cautioned against any dishonest practices, warning that individuals found engaging in misconduct would face strict penalties.
In support of these directives, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, remarked that the meeting serves to remind principals of government policies concerning flagship schools and to outline expectations for newly appointed principals.
Additionally, Dr. Olubunmi Womiloju, Principal General of Remo Division, along with Mr. Adeyinka Adekoya, State President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), credited the success of the education sector to the significant investments made by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
The meeting concluded with Mr. Temitope Lasilo, Director of Education in the Department of Curriculum Development and Evaluation, reaffirming that the gathering was intended to ensure transparency in the admission process while aligning it with state educational policies.
