Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji Empowers 15 Remo Youths With Certificates And Scholarships In Tech Upskilling Initiative
In a remarkable display of commitment to youth empowerment, Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, the Commissioner for the Ogun State Judicial Service Commission and aspirant for the Remo Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), hosted a graduation ceremony celebrating the successful completion of a Tech Upskill training program on June 22nd, 2025, at Ewusi Hall in Makun Sagamu, area of Ogun State. The event recognized the achievements of 15 youths from Remo Land who participated in the initiative sponsored by her Ayoola-Elegbeji Foundation in collaboration with Empower Youth Voices.
The Tech Upskill program, which cost several million naira, provided free virtual training in various in-demand tech disciplines, attracting around 200 applicants from across the state. Initially, 63 applicants were selected based on their passion and qualifications; ultimately, 31 attended the two-week training. Of these, 15 graduated by meeting rigorous criteria, which included class attendance, practical performance, and examination results, and were awarded certificates during the ceremony.
Four outstanding participants—Idowu Oshubo, Michael Olayemi (represented by his parents), David Badun, and one additional beneficiary who was absent—secured scholarships to study at Alt School Africa for a year, enabling them to gain valuable skills in areas such as Software Engineering, Data Analysis, Product Management, and Cybersecurity.
In her opening address, Hon. Ayoola Elegbeji articulated the mission behind the program, emphasizing the necessity for Remo youth to stay abreast of the rapidly evolving technological landscape. “Technology is no longer a luxury; it is a vital tool for creating jobs, inspiring innovation, and uplifting entire communities,” she stated. She expressed her commitment to ensuring that the upcoming generation thrives in the digital economy through training, mentorship, and educational investment.
The training covered essential courses, including Software Development, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Product Design (UI/UX), and Data Analysis, all designed to prepare participants for real-world challenges. “The students are equipped with practical examples to ensure they become work-ready upon graduation,” Hon. Ayoola Elegbeji noted in a subsequent interaction with reporters.
Prominent figures in attendance included Dr. Dapo Odukoya, Commissioner 1 of the Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission; Comrade Aremu Adekunle Ashaye, a respected youth leader; and Omooba Abiola Ogundeko, CEO of Heritage Culture & Hospitality Limited, who delivered a motivational address. Contributions to the event were also made by Mr. Olalekan Balogun, Director of Campaign for the Ayoola-Elegbeji Foundation; Comrade Bidemi Solarin, Chairman of the Remo Youth Association; and Miss Janet Olaolu, Project Coordinator of the Tech Upskill Program. His Royal Highness, Oba Kolawole Adeshina Adeyemi, the Negbuwa of Ibido, graced the occasion as the Royal Father of the Day.
During the ceremony, Hon. Ayoola Elegbeji highlighted the exceptional performance of scholarship recipients, stating, “Their dedication has made them deserving of this opportunity at AltSchool Africa, which is renowned for producing future-focused tech leaders.” In addition to the scholarship recipients, four other participants—Abimbola Oshonuga, Mayowa Olorunjuwonlo, Olumide Isaac, and Omoniyi Mafikuyomi—received Certificates of Participation for completing the program.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of his fellow beneficiaries, David Badun delivered an emotional speech reflecting on the transformative journey provided by the Ayoola-Elegbeji Foundation. He pledged to maximize the opportunity and positively impact his community in the future. Comrade Bidemi Solarin further reiterated the importance of youth engagement in technological advancements and encouraged fellow community leaders to support similar initiatives.
Dr. Dapo Odukoya commended Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji for her unwavering dedication to empowering Remo’s youth, describing the benefits of acquiring tech skills in today’s economy. He pointed out that with such skills, it is possible to work for international companies without leaving the comfort of home.
Wrapping up the event, His Royal Highness Oba Kolawole Adeshina Adeyemi urged the youth to pursue legitimate paths for personal growth and to embrace innovation. He praised Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji for her forward-thinking vision and prayed for the initiative’s continued success.
This event showcased that with focused investment, mentorship, and community-driven empowerment, regions like Remo can cultivate the next generation of tech innovators and leaders. The continuation and expansion of such programs promise to reduce unemployment and establish Remo as a hub for digital excellence in Nigeria.
