The procession, a sea of energized participants, embarked from the Akarigbo’s Palace, weaving its way through the heart of Sagamu. The strategically chosen route, traversing key locations including Sabo underbridge, GRA Road, and culminating at Awolowa Market at Makun, ensured maximum visibility and engagement with the community. The walk served as a powerful platform to disseminate vital information, with participants carrying banners and chanting slogans that underscored the importance of polio eradication. These messages included: “A Polio-Free Nigeria is Possible!,” “Every child deserves protection,” “Support vaccination, stop misinformation, and save lives!”, “Every step counts – protect every Child!”, and “Together, we make Ijebu & Remo proud, healthy, and strong!”
The event was graced by the presence of a diverse range of influential figures, further amplifying the message and showcasing the collective commitment to eliminating polio. Speaking at the walk, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adewale Ajayi, expressed his profound appreciation to the organizers and emphasized the critical role of community participation in achieving a polio-free future. He urged the residents of Sagamu to embrace the awareness campaign and actively engage in the fight against the debilitating disease.
