Promise Made, Promises Kept: Yayi Delivers Ilaro Road Project, Advances 2027 Ogun Bid As Four Court Cases To His Candidacy End
The 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, has continued to highlight infrastructure delivery as a major pillar of his campaign message, announcing the completion and delivery of School II Road in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area. The road is listed among township roads being constructed in selected locations nationwide under the Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda. The development, according to the candidate, reflects his commitment to supporting projects capable of improving mobility, connectivity and the overall socio-economic wellbeing of communities across Ogun State.
The completion of the Ilaro project comes amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with Adeola maintaining that infrastructure development and the delivery of tangible dividends of democracy should remain central to governance. The Senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, has continued his engagements and mobilisation across the state as he prepares to take his campaign to various communities and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, four separate court cases challenging Adeola’s 2027 governorship candidacy have been voluntarily discontinued by the respective litigants, according to a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 election. According to Odunaro, one of the cases was withdrawn on August 24, 2026, while the remaining three were discontinued on September 7, 2026, in open court, with the defendants and their respective counsel duly notified through Notices of Discontinuance.
The first matter, Suit No. FHC/AB/CS/87/26, was instituted by Professor Awolola Awoniyi pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 2011 against Senator Adeola, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, Guardian Newspapers Limited and the Inspector-General of Police. Another case, Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/844/26, was instituted by officials and members of several political parties, including the Booth Party, Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Labour Party (LP), with Adeola, INEC and the APC listed as defendants.
Odunaro further identified the other discontinued matters as Suit Nos. FHC/ABJ/CS/989/2026 and FHC/ABJ/CS/884/26, involving some of the aforementioned political actors and other individuals. While the litigants did not publicly state reasons for discontinuing the cases, Adeola’s media adviser said they had become convinced of the merit of the Senator’s candidacy and had chosen to support his ambition ahead of the 2027 election. That assertion represents the position of Adeola’s camp; the cited reports do not independently establish the litigants’ reasons for withdrawing the suits.
Reacting to the development, Adeola welcomed the withdrawal of the cases and, according to his aide, said the development would enable him to remain focused on delivering what he described as the dividends of democracy to the people of Ogun State. He is also expected to intensify his mobilisation and campaign activities across the state as the 2027 election approaches. The combination of continued infrastructure advocacy and intensified political mobilisation places development, representation and electoral engagement at the centre of YAYI’s emerging campaign narrative in Ogun State.
