Tinubu Vows To End Farmers, Herders Crisis Within 2 To 3 Weeks

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared his dedication towards ending farmers, herders’ crisis in the country.

Speaking on Monday at the inauguration of the mechanised agricultural project in Minna, Niger State, he expressed commitment to tackle the challenge in the next two to three weeks.

He vowed to draw up programmes that would bring an end to the persistent clashes as soon as possible.

Tinubu, stressed the need to give proper guidance to the herders as well as farming population and make provisions for cattle rearing.

The president also called on state governors to provide lands that would help in facilitating his programme.

He said:

“We must reorient our farming population, including livestock programme. I don’t see why Nigeria can’t feed all our pupils with one pint of milk a day if the dairy system is well harnessed.

“I know what it means as an economic sabotage for cows to eat up the crops and vegetations of our land. When we reorient the herders and make provisions for cattle rearing, governors must provide the land and I as the President is committed to giving you, in two to three weeks’ time, a comprehensive programme that will solve this problem.”
