OGUN: Royal Ruling Houses Of Ijagba Celebrate First Public Anniversary In Sagamu
The royal ruling houses of Ijagba Land in Sagamu area of Ogun State, comprising Gbasemo, Rojugbuwa, Gbolugboye-Aremo, and Gusennuwa, held their inaugural public anniversary today January 29, 2025, at Ita Ijagba, celebrating unity and cultural heritage within the community.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Chief D.A. Ogunnubi, the Olootu Omooba of Ijagba Land, who emphasized the significance of collaboration and loyalty among the ruling houses. He expressed gratitude to attendees for their support while urging the people of Ijagba to strengthen their allegiance to their royal lineages.
A highlight of the event was the announcement of the royal approval for the Ijagba Development Association (IDA) by the Kabiesi Onijagba of Ijagba Land, Oba Adesanya. Secretary of IDA, Otunba Akinsanya Abiodun, conveyed the Kabiesi’s endorsement and elaborated on the association’s plans for community development. He announced the establishment of the annual Yemoro Festival, a cultural celebration aimed at enhancing the heritage of the Ijagba people, and encouraged all Ijagba citizens to actively participate and support the IDA.
In his royal address, Kabiesi Onijagba blessed the anniversary and called for a new era of unity and harmony among the royal houses. He condemned any form of violence or barbaric behavior, warning that offenders would face stringent legal consequences. Kabiesi urged Ijagba’s sons and daughters, both at home and abroad, to honor their roots and engage in cultural preservation.

The closing remarks were delivered by the Oluwo of Ijagba Land, who expressed heartfelt appreciation for the contributions that made the event successful. He reiterated the importance of peaceful coexistence among the royal houses and wished everyone continued success in future celebrations.
The anniversary attracted a diverse gathering, including the Chairman of the Ijagba Development Association, Omooba Chief Sikiru Kalejaiye, several chiefs, members of the Onijagba in Council, distinguished Baale’s, Otunba’s, Olotu’s from various royal families, and numerous well-wishers from across Sagamu, all coming together to commemorate this historic event in the heart of Ijagba. The royal ruling houses aim to foster a spirit of unity and cooperation, enhancing the cultural identity of Ijagba for generations to come.
