Ogun State Government Arrests Six For Violating Construction Seals In Sagamu

In a decisive move to uphold environmental regulations, the Ogun State government has arrested six individuals along Oba Erinwole Road in Sagamu for allegedly violating a government seal and resuming construction activities at a site that had been officially closed.
Hon. Farouk Akintunde, Special Adviser to the Governor on the Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) and Chairman of the Ogun State Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, disclosed this information to journalists at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to Akintunde, the construction site in question was a gas station previously sealed by the government due to violations of environmental laws. However, a recent compliance inspection revealed that workers were actively continuing construction, prompting legal action. “Breaking a government seal is a serious offense that incurs penalties under the state’s environmental laws,” he stated.
In a related incident, a farm located in Laderin Estate, Abeokuta, was also sealed for rearing animals in a residential zone, contravening the environmental regulations of Ogun State.
Additionally, Akintunde announced that the enforcement team has successfully removed unauthorized shanties along major roads in the state capital, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to maintaining environmental standards and ensuring public safety.
