Remo Youth Association Hosts General Meeting In Sagamu, Featuring NDLEA Sensitization On Drug Abuse
The Remo Youth Association (RYA), the apex body for youth groups and community-based organizations in the region, successfully held its monthly general meeting today June 15, 2025, at Onijoku Hall in Sabo Sagamu. The event, attended by passionate youths from various communities in Remo Land, featured a special courtesy visit from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), whose representatives provided valuable insights on drug abuse prevention.
Led by Comrade Bidemi Solarin, RYA’s chairman, the meeting commenced with a warm welcome to the attendees. Comrade Solarin briefly reviewed the discussions from the previous meeting before officially opening the session. He emphasized the importance of unity and proactive engagement among the youth for community development.
The agenda outlined for the meeting included key topics such as youth development plans, community functions, and empowerment opportunities, aiming to address the pressing needs of the youth in the region.
Following the opening remarks, Comrade Solarin introduced the NDLEA officials, led by Mrs. Bamisaye, who delivered a concise and impactful sensitization lecture on the dangers of drug abuse. Mrs. Bamisaye’s presentation underscored the critical role that education and awareness play in combating drug-related issues within communities, encouraging the youth to be advocates for a drug-free environment.
The meeting fostered an atmosphere of engagement, with a constructive dialogue session that allowed attendees to participate actively. Youth representatives raised questions and contributed ideas, further enriching the discourse aimed at enhancing their collective wellbeing and upliftment.
Speaking on behalf of Comrade Femi Osho, President of the Association of Sabo Sagamu Youth Leaders (ASSYL), Comrade Aranmonise expressed gratitude to the RYA leadership and all youths present, commending them for their commitment to the welfare of the community and for choosing ASSYL’s Secretariat as the venue for this vital gathering.
As the meeting concluded, the spirit of camaraderie and purpose was palpable. Youths from diverse backgrounds across Remo Land left the session feeling informed, empowered, and optimistic about future collaborative efforts aimed at improving their communities and addressing social challenges.
